Moonglow

LOGLINE: When two eminent biochemist-physicians’ rivalry turns to hatred over control of the lucrative utopian slave worker society of “New Harmony”, one of them sends a medically altered young boy there as a Trojan Horse for training as a ruthless, heartless, assassin to kill his own father; but their “Moonglow” evolves into a compassionate, avenging, soul who wreaks havoc on his oppressors.

At 4, our hero, Lars, loses his parents to bubonic plague. But he survives thanks to the medical skills of his Uncle Karl--Sweden’s preeminent authority on infectious diseases and their cures. Karl is called to produce a vaccine to stem a rabies epidemic in northern Sweden. He is given a laboratory/apartment in a dilapidated lighthouse on a deserted, wolf-invested island. Worse, his work is slowed as the lighthouse is haunted by the specters of the man wolves that his mad scientist predecessor created there. Lars succumbs to this evil when he crawls under a barbed wire protective fence, disappearing in the forest, to chase a “dog-man”. He survives, but his “man beast wound” requires a “witches brew” rabies treatment.

At 5, Karl ships orphaned Lars to live in the Utopian (American) “workers” paradise” of New Harmony to live with his grandparents. There, he is isolated and trained in a brutal, competitive, military school. Lars’ skills as a hunter, leader and assassin prevail. At 16, Lars is given the title of “Esteemed Citizen Rex”. He is being groomed for leadership of New Harmony so is assigned both military and academic tutors who compete for Lars’ loyalty. Lars is shocked to discover New Harmony’s slave world, policed by young, heartless, military cadets; as well as the brutal treatment of his school “Pod” brothers. Worse, when he angers, he morphs into a man-beast.

Lars’ academic tutor, an outsider well acquainted with New Harmony’s sins, begins to unravel Lars’ past. However, as civil war breaks out in “New Harmony”, Lars is torn between loyalty and military duty vs. compassion for the oppressed. He confronts New Harmony’s evil ruler—the mad scientist (vampire) who commands a wolf-beast army from the same (fortress) lighthouse where his uncle toiled in Sweden. Lars is puzzled that this monster looks exactly like him. He is shocked when the monster reveals the true story of Lars’ past, and the lies Lars has been told. Lars’ duel with the monster inside the Lighthouse laboratory and the savage, raging battle for control of the lighthouse fortress compound outside destroys New Harmony. Lars’ becomes a lonely wanderer, who might tell further adventures as a “Moonglow”.
